SVFD-EMS Annual Demolition Derby September 14, 2019 at 6pm
This is the main fundraising event each year for the department. It is a huge amount of work for the members, the Auxiliary and others in the community who donate their time to make it successful. And, it is also a lot of fun!
Spicewood VFD-EMS started the first Destruction Derby in 1991, with 10 men and 5 ladies signed up as drivers. That was an exciting evening of racing. Today, the Derby has grown to 20 plus men and 8 plus women drivers and nearly 4,000 spectators.
SVFD-EMS has had some of its members driving in the Derby, resulting in broken bones, burns, scrapes and bruises.
It takes the department four months to prepare this event. 2019 will be the 28th year to put this huge event on, and every year it gets more exciting for us as well as the drivers and the community. See the video and photos below to get a taste of the action and the fun had by everyone!
The Spicewood Demolition Derby is held behind the Spicewood Fire Hall, 9805 Hwy 71E, Spicewood. Admission for kids 12 and under is sharply discounted, and in addition to the fun of the Derby itself, all sorts of food and refreshments are offered for sale, along with special Derby momentos such as T-shirts and hats. No glass containers or personal coolers allowed. Credit cards, cash and checks are accepted.
This is a true family entertainment event, so bring your entire family!
